The Pure and Simple, Back to Basics, Rocking Cocktail Competition

The Mission: We love locally hand-crafted, garden to glass cocktails. So we set on a mission to change DC’s thinking and drinking habits, by getting back to the basics, pure and simple. We believe every element of every cocktail should simply be fantastic. Go ahead and get inspired by Bloomery’s all natural garden to glass, farm-fresh liqueurs, along with fresh juices, high quality sodas, homemade syrups or whatever else your imagination thinks is pure wholesome goodness!

Your Assignment: Hand-craft an original cocktail using any Bloomery SweetShine flavor. If you are one of the three favorites — as selected by our awesome panel of judges — you will move onto the grand finale on Tuesday, March 24 at the Board Room.

The Reward: If you win THE SweetShine ShakeDown Grand Finale Competition you will have instant bragging rights as the first bartender inducted into the Hooch Hall of Fame™, win a really funky trophy, among other cool prizes, and your cocktail will be featured in Bloomery’s ‘Shine On Newsletter and social media outlets reaching over 5,000 local fans! AND your favorite local charity will be rewarded with $1000! Hey, it doesn’t get any better than that!

The How To: So go on now, sign up, get back to the basics, and start shaking some cool, hand-crafted, farm-fresh cocktails!

Mystery Judge, Resident Mixologist, Far and Wide

Ruby Red S Murphy

Originally hailing from the hills of Wild Wonderful West Virginia, our Mystery Judge began her adventures in mixology at the Morgantown Brewing Company, where she tended bar while studying Chemistry at West Virginia University. It was during her tenure at MBC that she earned her reputation as the resident “flavor fiend” by creating and experimenting with fresh fruits and herbs and house infusions.  Her garden-to-glass creations, as well as a vast working knowledge of craft beers and traditional cocktails cemented her spot in the mixology scene. One of her creations landed the title of the 14th best cocktail in America in 2014 in Las Vegas.
